Operations Manager.

About the Role

We are looking for a results-driven Operations Manager to oversee and optimise the day-to-day operational activities of our organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring that business processes run efficiently, resources are utilised effectively, and operational targets are consistently met.

As Operations Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations. You will work closely with senior leadership to translate strategic objectives into operational plans.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in operations management, excellent organisational skills, and a proven ability to manage teams and drive continuous improvement in a dynamic business environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate day-to-day operational activities to ensure smooth business operations.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Manage and mentor operational staff, setting performance targets and conducting regular reviews.
• Oversee supply chain and vendor management, including contract negotiations and performance monitoring.
• Monitor key operational metrics and prepare reports for senior management on performance and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and company policies.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvement initiatives using lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Manage operational budgets and ensure cost-effective allocation of resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management or a related leadership role.
• Strong understanding of business process management and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing teams of 10 or more people.
• Excellent project management and organisational skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing diverse stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• MBA or postgraduate qualification in Operations Management or Business Administration.
• Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
• Experience in the manufacturing, logistics, FMCG, or oil and gas sectors in Nigeria.
• Knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and workplace health and safety regulations.
