DevOps Engineer.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to bridge the gap between software development and IT operations. You will design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure and deployment pipelines that keep our applications running reliably at scale.

In this role, you will be responsible for automating processes, managing cloud infrastructure, monitoring system performance, and ensuring our platform maintains high availability. You will work closely with development teams to streamline the release cycle and embed security practices into every stage of the deployment pipeline.

The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working across the entire technology stack, enjoys automating repetitive tasks, and has a strong understanding of both Linux systems administration and modern cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable, and automated software releases.
• Manage and optimise cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Monitor system health, performance, and security using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or the ELK stack.
• Automate operational tasks including provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using Ansible, Chef, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve application reliability, scalability, and deployment frequency.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and deployment processes (DevSecOps).
• Manage containerised workloads using Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or systems administration role.
• Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix systems administration.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes or Docker Swarm).
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go for automation tasks.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and firewall configurations.
• Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.

Nice to Have

• Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
• Experience with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
• Familiarity with GitOps workflows using tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
• Experience managing infrastructure for high-traffic applications in the African market.
