Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

About the Role

We are hiring a Chief Financial Officer to lead the company's financial strategy, planning, and operations. The CFO will be responsible for financial reporting, risk management, capital allocation, and ensuring compliance with Nigerian tax and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in financial leadership within Nigeria, a deep understanding of FIRS, SEC, and CBN regulations as applicable, and the ability to translate financial data into strategic recommendations for the CEO and board.

This is a role for a meticulous, strategic financial leader who can build robust financial systems, manage audits and investor relations, and drive long-term financial sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for the organisation.
• Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with FIRS tax obligations, Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), and relevant financial regulations.
• Manage treasury operations including cash flow, banking relationships, and foreign exchange exposure.
• Present financial reports and strategic recommendations to the CEO, board of directors, and investors.
• Lead the annual audit process and maintain relationships with external auditors.
• Develop and implement internal controls, financial policies, and risk management frameworks.
• Supervise the finance and accounting team, driving professional development and performance.

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; an MBA or MSc in Finance is preferred.
• Professional certification: ACA (ICAN), ACCA, or CFA required.
• Deep knowledge of Nigerian tax law, FIRS compliance, and financial reporting standards (IFRS).
• Experience with financial modelling, capital structuring, and investor relations.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, or enterprise ERP systems).

Nice to Have

• Experience leading a company through fundraising or capital raising in Nigeria.
• Familiarity with SEC regulations for publicly listed or pre-IPO companies.
• Understanding of transfer pricing regulations and international tax planning.
• Experience managing pension fund administration under PenCom guidelines.
