About the Role

We are hiring a Cashier to handle payment transactions, operate the POS terminal, and provide friendly, efficient service to customers. The cashier will process cash, card, and transfer payments accurately, maintain the checkout area, and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.

The ideal candidate is honest, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a customer-facing environment. Prior cashier or retail experience in Nigeria is preferred.

This is a front-line role that requires integrity, speed, and a professional attitude. The cashier is often the last interaction a customer has with the store, making their role critical to the overall customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Process customer payments via cash, POS, bank transfer, and mobile payment platforms.
• Operate the POS terminal and cash register accurately, issuing receipts for all transactions.
• Maintain an organised, clean checkout area at all times.
• Reconcile cash and POS sales at the end of each shift, reporting any discrepancies.
• Assist customers with pricing enquiries, product information, and basic store navigation.
• Handle customer returns and refunds according to company policy.
• Report counterfeit currency, suspicious transactions, or security concerns to the supervisor.

Requirements

• SSCE/WAEC certificate or OND in any discipline.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a cashier, sales assistant, or in a similar role.
• Basic numeracy and cash handling skills.
• Familiarity with POS machines and basic computer operations.
• Honest, trustworthy, and able to handle money responsibly.
• Good customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible hours.

Nice to Have

• Experience with multiple POS systems or payment platforms.
• Familiarity with inventory management basics.
• Ability to communicate in local languages in addition to English.
