About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to identify and pursue new business opportunities that drive revenue growth and market expansion. You will be responsible for building strategic partnerships, developing new client relationships, and expanding the organisation s footprint across Nigeria and the broader West African market.

In this role, you will research market trends, identify potential clients and partners, develop compelling proposals, and negotiate agreements that create mutual value. Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and prospecting.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key clients, partners, industry associations, and government agencies.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to prospective clients and partners.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements, contracts, and terms of engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop go-to-market strategies for new products, services, or market segments.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes that may present opportunities or risks.
  • Report on business development activities, pipeline status, and revenue projections to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or strategic sales.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, develop relationships, and close deals.
  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian and West African business environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute long-term growth plans.
  • Experience with CRM tools and business development tracking systems.
  • Willingness to travel within Nigeria and across West Africa as required.

Nice to Have

  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Existing network of senior-level contacts across Nigerian industries.
  • Experience with public sector procurement and tender processes in Nigeria.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies and licensing requirements in key sectors.
  • Proficiency in French for francophone West African market expansion.
